About Applied Data Labs

Applied Data Labs was founded in 2011 as a data technology research and advisory lab. Our research explored how data and analytics transform business, government, and society — at a time when “big data” was just entering the mainstream conversation.

The Early Days (2011–2014)

Between 2011 and 2014, we published dozens of research articles covering topics from government surveillance and data privacy to business intelligence tools, healthcare analytics, and the social implications of data collection. Our work was cited by major publications and linked to by hundreds of sites across the web.

Evolution into Operational AI

In 2024, our work evolved into Operational.AI, an enterprise AI education hub helping organizations bridge the gap between AI investment and AI maturity. The themes we explored a decade ago — data governance, algorithmic decision-making, privacy, organizational transformation — are now central to every enterprise's AI strategy.
